XFRA is the first distributed data center that uses existing home infrastructure and underutilized power capacity to help meet growing AI compute demand.
The XFRA node is installed together with a SPAN Panel and battery. This improves household resilience during outages and adds a modern energy management foundation to the home. XFRA then uses the power your home isn't consuming for computation.
XFRA is designed to use the power capacity your home isn’t using. You retain control over your home energy use. Homeowners also benefit from a predictable monthly value proposition that may include bundled services and host compensation. Details will vary by community and are still in development.
How are SPAN and NVIDIA working together on XFRA?
Initial launch partners for XFRA include NVIDIA, the world leader in AI computing. This first-of-a-kind solution will launch with enterprise grade, liquid-cooled NVIDIA RTX PRO™ 6000 Blackwell Server Edition GPUs.
How can I get XFRA for my home?
SPAN is currently working directly with residential new construction builders within the US for our first 100-home XFRA proof of concept. We plan to expand more broadly in 2027.
Stay tuned to xfra.ai for the latest news. If and when we open up a broader test program or pilot, we'll share the details there. We do not currently have a waitlist.
Is XFRA available outside the US?
XFRA is not currently available outside the US. Visit XFRA | Home to stay up to date on availability and expansion plans.
What's included with XFRA, and what does it cost homeowners?
As we partner with new home builders, new home construction homeowners will see the price of XFRA included in the price of their home. With XFRA, homeowners will get:
- SPAN Panel
- Whole Home Battery Backup System
- XFRA Compute Node
While XFRA is currently in the proof of concept phase and not all details are finalized, homeowners will benefit from a predictable monthly value proposition that may include bundled services and host compensation. Details will vary by community and are still in development.
Visit xfra.ai and see the XFRA White Paper for additional details as they become available.
How much am I, as an XFRA host, going to get paid?
XFRA hosts are expected to benefit from a predictable monthly value proposition that may includes bundled services and host compensation. Details will vary by community and are still in development.
How loud is the XFRA node?
Unlike the noisy, fan-driven air cooling used in massive warehouse data centers, XFRA units rely on closed-loop liquid-cooling heat pump systems. SPAN targets an operating volume of roughly 60 dB, making it both safe for the public and about as quiet as a standard outdoor residential HVAC or air conditioning unit.
I have detailed technical questions about XFRA. Where can I learn more?
While XFRA is in the proof of concept phase, we're not yet able to share additional technical details beyond what's available through our public resources:
- xfra.ai — the latest news and updates
- XFRA White Paper — detailed overview of the technology and approach
We'll share more information as we expand the program.
